Known as America’s team, the Dallas Cowboys rank among the most successful franchises in the history of the National Football League (NFL). The Cowboys have appeared in eight Super Bowl games, winning five, and have fielded some of the game's most accomplished players.

The team’s all-time leading rusher, Emmitt Smith, spent 13 of his 15 professional seasons in Dallas, racking up 17,162 yards and 153 touchdowns. He was the team’s most valuable offensive weapon for four consecutive seasons, three of which resulted in Super Bowl titles for the Cowboys. Smith retired following the 2004 season with 18,355 rushing yards, more than any other running back in league history. Smith’s 164 career touchdowns are also an all-time NFL record.
